Iditarod 2008

I didn't make it to the official start of the Iditarod in downtown Anchorage... so I decided to go to the re-start the next day up in Willow, about an hour north of Wasilla. My friend Miles and I met up at a local high school and caught the shuttle north to avoid horrible traffic. It was pretty warm out -- upper 30s I would guess? It was warm enough that the dogs were eating snow. I couldn't believe how excited the dogs were to get moving... that was quite a sight to see. I know some people see it as cruelty, but those dogs seem to live for that! After all, that's what they're trained to do!!
